Hi ya’lllll,
Welcome back to The Jemini Weekly — its unfortunately been a bit of a bed rot week again, so this installment has a focus on some of the phenomenal series and films I’ve been watching and, as always… some hot gossip (with extra juice this time) from my bestie, The Universe.
(disclaimer, I didn’t really proof read this one so hopefully my spelling and grammar isn’t heinous)
JEM IRL
As I mentioned, I didn’t really do much this past week… I’m working from home for the next 4-6 weeks because I’m #contagious for the next 4-6 weeks (shoutout mono) and I’ve honestly never been more productive. My offices are in West Hollywood but I live near the beach, so it’s about an hour commute each way, typically 3x per week. On in-office days, I’m usually annoyed and drained by traffic by the time I even get to work, and by the time I get home I simply want to waste away in bed on TikTok. So not going to the office for the last two weeks has been really great for me honestly. I’ve gotten so much more done at work, feel less overwhelmed with the nearly 60 different campaigns I’ve got going on right now and I’ve been able to stay on top of my housework.
But last week, my bestie Liv who loves me mono and all asked if I wanted to come and work from her apartment in San Diego, so I spent a few days down there. We literally labeled our water bottles so I didn’t accidentally infect her with my leprosy, but it was so nice to get some social interaction before I went clinically insane. Oh also, they need to bring Better Buzz up from SD to Los Angeles because I had, quite literally, the best iced pumpkin chai I’ve ever had in my life there — and it’s still and forever more fuck Starbucks over here.
Outside of working and getting my shit organized, I’ve mostly been watching a few different series and, of course, staying on top of my film game. I’ve got some reallyyyy good recommendations, so stay tuned for that later.
Also, I’m going home to Upstate NY this weekend and going to work remotely from there next week so I’m soooo excited for that. I miss Upstate NY Fall so much, so I will be overdoing it on the apple cider and powdered donuts for a week straight.
Not a super sexy week, so moving right along…
The Universe Said It, Not Me…
Girllll… I am FEELING the Libra energy and thank god for that. The different parts of my life are feeling balanced (shout out working from home + Libra szn), I feel very connected to and grateful for the people I love and have had some really good deep convos lately (shout out Venus in Scorpio and Mercury in Libra, which continues through Oct 17th), and I feel like I’m finally leaving some bad habits behind, and getting into a new and positive routine (shoutout Uranus Retrograde in Taurus, which continues through most of January 2025).
Libra szn is all about balance, relationships, and beauty, and honey, I’m feeling every ounce of it. I’ve been religiously sticking to my skincare routine and eating way cleaner. Feeling cute? Absolutelyyyy. So, I urge you to peek back at last week’s “The Universe Said It, Not Me…” and reflect on how these cosmic vibes have been hitting you and how you can harness the energy the Universe is throwing your way.
++
We’re officially out of the eclipse woods, y’all! The last Solar Eclipse in Libra dropped on October 2nd, and we won’t have to deal with those cosmic shake-ups for six whole months! Honestly, I welcome eclipses. They might shake things loose and push us to face our truth, which can be hard to do… but they also usher in some much-needed change. So go ahead and take a deep breath — you’ve earned it. Just remember that those eclipses might leave some lasting impressions over the next few months, so don’t be surprised if you feel some echoes of their energy.
Let’s chat about trines: Picture two planets cozying up, 120 degrees apart, creating that smooth, flowing energy. It’s like they’re sharing a cosmic smooch, harmonizing beautifully without the drama. It’s two bitches telling each other, exactlyyyyyy.
But who’s a square: A square is when two planets are sitting 90 degrees apart, and trust me, it’s the universe’s way of serving up some serious tension and drama. It means these bitches are literally squaring up to tussle. But you’ll learn something through the struggles they bring.
What’s an opposition: Oppositions are similar to squares — but squares create tension that pushes for action and resolution, while oppositions highlight duality and the need for integration between those contrasting forces. Squares challenge you to step up, while oppositions invite you to find balance
Alright, now that we’ve got that out of the way… let’s dive in.

October 8th – Mars in Cancer Trine Venus in Scorpio & Mercury in Libra Trine Jupiter in Gemini
October 8th is a cosmic double-feature girlies… Mars is vibing harmoniously with Venus, and this trine amplifies passion and harmonious energy in our relationships and creative projects. Mars brings the drive and ambition, while Venus softens that energy with charm and affection. It’s an ideal day for romantic gestures (so tell ur bfs to buy you flowers), beautifully deep conversations, creative collaborations, or pursuing your personal passions. With Venus’ focus on aesthetics and Mars’ extra oomph, you may want to redecorate your room/home and put up Fall decor, make a halloween costume Pinterest moodboard, change your phone wallpaper, or complete some sort of artistic project while vibing to some pretty music. We have Mars (action, passion, energy) in Cancer (emotions, nurture) and Venus (love, beauty, harmony) in Scorpio (intensity, depth, transformation). Each of these planets and their placements in their respective signs amplifying each other through this trine — it signals a lot of drive and energy, a lot of emotion and passion, and a lot of love and harmony. Today could also bring spicy boom boom time too, sorry, the universe said it not me.
On this same date, Mercury gets cozy in a trine with Jupiter. This aspect amplifies our thoughts and ideas, making it a perfect time for brainstorming, sharing your knowledge, and uplifting others through conversation. Your mind could be buzzing with clarity and inspiration. With Mercury strutting its stuff in Libra and Jupiter making waves in Gemini, we might find ourselves diving into discussions about legal and governmental affairs—hello, themes of justice and integrity! No better time than now with the impending doom of the election (this is your friendly reminder to get your ass registered to vote if you haven’t already ;0!). This trine can also bring optimism and good news, the start of travel plans, and business negotiations. Purr.

October 9th - Jupiter in Gemini goes Retrograde (until February 4, 2025)
Hold on darling, because Jupiter is about to hit reverse! Starting October 9th and lasting until February 4, 2025, this big guy is going retrograde in Gemini, and you know what that means—time for some cosmic introspection honeyyy.
Jupiter, the planet of expansion, luck, justice and morality, is stepping back to remind us to reevaluate our beliefs, perspectives, and plans. While he’s chillin’ in Gemini until June 9, 2025, expect a sprinkle of curiosity and a side of sass as you dive deep into your thoughts. It’s the perfect moment to question what you, and what we as a collective, thought you/we knew and be open to new ideas. So, don’t just scroll through social media; actually engage in some enlightening conversations or pick up a book that challenges your perspective. With Jupiter’s focus on justice, power and the government, how can we take a page from Gemini’s book, shake things up a bit, and inspire some much-needed change across the country and beyond? This retrograde is also your cue to reflect on your growth and your communication style. Are you speaking your truth, or have you been holding back?
October 10th - Pluto Stations Direct in Capricorn
After a cozy little nap in retrograde since May 1st, Pluto is ready to unleash its transformative nature back into the universe, and trust me, you’re going to want to pay attention! Pluto, the planet of transformation, power, and all things deep and dark (hello, he rules Scorpio), is all about digging up those hidden truths and shedding light on what’s been lurking in the shadows. He’s often associated in astrology with dramatic upheaval and major changes — and after being in retrograde since May, the timing with the upcoming election… frightens me just a bit? But swiftly moving on…
When he stations direct in Capricorn, we're in for a wild ride of ambition, structure, and a whole lot of energy focused on our goals and desires. Capricorn, the sign of the achiever, asks us to roll up our sleeves and get down to business. Think of it as your celestial wake-up call to stop procrastinating and start making moves—because Pluto isn’t about that half-assed energy. This shift is all about reclaiming your power and redefining your boundaries, especially in areas related to your career and public life. You might find yourself feeling more driven to tackle those long-term projects you've been putting off or to confront any limiting beliefs that have been holding you back. It's like Pluto is saying, “Alright, babe, it's time to stop playing small and step into your greatness!”
But let’s not forget—Pluto's energy is intense. It can bring up some deep emotional stuff, so if you find yourself feeling a bit raw or triggered, just remember that this is all part of the transformational process. Embrace it, lean into those feelings, and don’t shy away from the uncomfortable. It’s through this discomfort that we grow and evolve!
So, as Pluto turns direct, channel that powerful energy into something productive. Whether it’s leveling up your career, strengthening your personal boundaries, or diving deep into your passions, this is the cosmic nudge you’ve been waiting for. Get ready to emerge from the shadows, shine your light, and show the world what you’re made of—because Pluto is back, and it’s time to rise queenie.
Oct. 13 – Mercury enters Scorpio
Alright darling, mark your calendars for October 13 because Mercury is sliding into the depths of Scorpio. Get ready for a shift in communication as this clever little planet moves from the airy charm of Libra to the intense waters of Scorpio. Talk about a switch up!
When Mercury enters Scorpio, our conversations become a little more intense, and baby, that’s putting it lightly… Scorpio’s energy encourages us to dig beneath the surface, seeking out hidden truths and unearthing secrets. We’re talking full-on Nancy Drew mode — people won’t be satisfied with just a “oh, I’m good!” anymore; they’ll want to know the juicy deets! This is the perfect time to explore those topics you’ve been dying to discuss but felt too shy to bring up. On the flip side, be careful not to get too intense…Scorpio’s energy can sometimes lead to possessiveness or obsession, so it’s essential to channel that passion wisely. Remember, while we’re here to uncover the truth, we don’t need to scare people off. Expect secrets to be revealed and tea to be spilled through early January.
October 14th, 2024 - Venus in Scorpio Opposition Uranus in Taurus and Sun in Libra Square Mars in Cancer
On October 14th, 2024, we have Venus in Scorpio throwing some serious shade with an opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Buckle up, because this transit is all about tension and unexpected surprises in love, beauty, and finances—aka the things Venus loves to rule over.
When Venus, the planet of love and harmony, squares off against Uranus, the planet of chaos and liberation, you can expect a wild ride. This aspect might have you feeling all kinds of emotions… think of it as the universe's way of saying, "Hey, you want excitement? Here you go." Whether it's spontaneous dates that could either be total flops or serendipitous adventures, the energy is electric and unpredictable.
Venus in Scorpio is all about intensity, depth, and passion. It craves emotional connections and can be quite possessive, so when that energy clashes with Uranus in Taurus, which favors stability and comfort, you might find yourself pulled in two different directions. Are you craving that deep, transformative love? Or are you feeling rebellious and wanting to break free from those expectations? Spoiler alert: you might want both…
Expect surprises in your relationships and finances. Maybe a whirlwind romance blooms out of nowhere, or perhaps a sudden expense challenges your budgeting skills. This is a time when you can shake up your love life by trying something unconventional—so don't hesitate to step out of your comfort zone! Just keep in mind that while spontaneity can be thrilling, it can also lead to unexpected conflicts. Emotions might run high, and it’s important to communicate openly with your partners (platonic or romantic) to avoid misunderstandings.
On October 14th, 2024, we also have the Sun in Libra squaring off (or squaring up frfr) with Mars in Cancer, and let me tell you, this aspect is bound to stir the pot! With the Sun shining bright in charming Libra, the spotlight is on relationships, harmony, and all things aesthetically pleasing. Libra wants balance and cooperation, but then we have fiery Mars in emotional Cancer crashing the party with its intense energy.
When Mars, the planet of action and drive, gets involved, we can expect a few fires. Mars in Cancer brings out that protective, nurturing side, but also a touch of defensiveness. So, you might feel a bit more sensitive than usual, especially when it comes to how others perceive you. This square can ignite conflicts in relationships, as the desire for harmony clashes with Mars' urge to take action or assert oneself.
You might find yourself feeling torn between wanting to keep the peace and needing to express your feelings assertively. It’s the cosmic equivalent of wanting to bake cookies for your friends while also wanting to throw the entire batch at the wall because they didn’t appreciate your efforts. This transit could bring up feelings of frustration or impatience in your partnerships, especially if you feel like your needs aren’t being met. It’s important to channel that Martian energy into productive outlets, rather than letting it simmer into passive-aggressive behavior or emotional outbursts.
To navigate this cosmic tension, try to embrace open and honest communication. Use this energy to address any simmering issues in your relationships head-on. Take a moment to balance your needs with those of others, and remember that while it’s great to advocate for yourself, it’s also essential to listen. Navigate the emotional waters of relationships carefully on this date. Expect some push-pull dynamics, but also an opportunity to express yourself and clarify what you really want. Just keep the lines of communication open, and you might just come out of this transit with stronger connections and a deeper understanding of your emotional landscape.
October 15th, 2024 - Venus in Scorpio Trine Neptune in Pisces
On October 15th, Venus in Scorpio is forming a dreamy trine with Neptune in Pisces, and this is where the magic happens. With Venus, the planet of love and beauty, in the sultry, passionate sign of Scorpio, and Neptune, the planet of dreams and illusions, swimming through mystical Pisces, you know we’re in for some enchanting vibes!
Venus in Scorpio brings an intensity to love, relationships, and aesthetics. This is not just about surface-level romance; it’s about diving deep into the emotional undercurrents of your connections. Scorpio wants to feel every bit of passion and intimacy, and with Venus in this sign, you may find yourself drawn to the more profound, transformative aspects of love.
On the other hand, Neptune in Pisces is all about that ethereal, dreamy energy. It’s the planet of imagination, spirituality, and compassion. When these two come together in a trine, it’s like a magical potion for your heart and soul. Expect heightened intuition and empathy in your relationships. You might find yourself feeling more romantic, artistic, or spiritually connected to your loved ones during this time. However, with Neptune’s influence, be cautious of getting lost in illusions or idealizing someone too much. While it’s great to dream big, make sure you’re still grounded in reality. You want to enjoy the magic without setting yourself up for disappointment.
This transit is also an excellent time for creative pursuits—if you’ve been thinking about writing poetry, painting, or any artistic endeavor, now is the time to let your imagination run wild!

Now we’ve covered these in previous installments, but they’re still shining loud and proud:
Venus in Scorpio (Ongoing, until October 17th)
Venus is still vibing in deep, passionate Scorpio, so relationships continue to be intense. Emotional walls are getting torn down, whether you’re ready or not. If you've been avoiding certain truths in your love life, Scorpio isn't letting you off the hook. The energy is spicy, mysterious, and maybe a little possessive. This is the time to go deep in your connections—shallow stuff just won't cut it.
Saturn Retrograde in Pisces (Ongoing, until November 15th)
Saturn is still retrograde in dreamy Pisces, making us rethink our boundaries, responsibilities, and long-term goals—especially in areas tied to spirituality, creativity, or emotional well-being. Saturn’s vibe is always about hard work and discipline, but Pisces softens that energy a bit. This retrograde is ideal for reassessing your commitments and figuring out where you need more structure in the more fluid areas of your life.
Uranus Retrograde in Taurus (Ongoing, until January 25, 2025)
Uranus is still doing its rebel-in-Taurus thing, shaking up stability, finances, and personal values. This retrograde is all about breaking free from what’s been holding you back in your comfort zones. Have you been resisting change in how you handle money, self-worth, or even your physical surroundings? This transit says, “It's time to embrace the new.” Expect surprises, but trust that these shifts are necessary for long-term growth.
TL;DR for the Week (Oct 8 - 15):

Oct 10: Pluto stations direct in Capricorn, signaling a powerful shift in ambition and goals. Embrace the transformational energy and tackle those long-term projects!
Oct 13: Mercury enters Scorpio, turning up the intensity in conversations. Expect to dig deep, but don’t be too spicy & reactive —get ready for some secret-spilling!
Oct 14: Venus in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus, bringing surprises and tension in love and finances. Balance spontaneity with communication. Plus, the Sun in Libra squares Mars in Cancer, stirring emotions—navigate relationships carefully.
Oct 15: Venus trine Neptune is all about dreamy vibes and heightened intuition in love. Perfect for creative pursuits but stay grounded to avoid illusions.
This week blends passion, transformation, and a sprinkle of drama—get ready to embrace the cosmic ride baby.
Film-Not-Bro Corner
Okay babeeeee, I’ve been watching some good shit, so don’t take these recs lightly…
Lets start off with a few series I’ve been obsessed with:
The Teacher (Season 1 ) - Hulu | Comedy
The English Teacher on FX, stars Brian Jordan Alvarez of YouTube and TikTok fame and Brian serves up a deliciously chaotic slice of life series. I’ve been watching Brian since his YouTube skit days and I truly believe he’s the future of comedy. I’m not going to do some pretentious analysis of this ridiculous comedy… but: football team in full drag ft. Trixie Mattel — enough said. Please watch, Brian is playing an openly queer teacher and if this get’s cancelled I will feel personally victimized, it’s been like actually LOL funny.
Heartstopper (Season 3) - Netflix | Romance
This series makes me feel violently alone and resent the fact I wasn’t openly queer in HS and able to explore the beautiful innocence of young queer love. But it’s adorable and will make you cry and also giggle. I cannot understate the importance that this show exists for the future generations of baby gays. Season 1 trailer below in case you’ve never started this… which is, by law, homophobic.
Grotesquerie (Season 1) - Hulu | Campy Sexy Horror Drama??
From the twisted and often insufferable brain of Ryan Murphy comes Grotesquerie. Now that Evan Peters has experienced Twink Death — Murphy found a new twink in the form of Nicholas Alexander Chavez who also recently appeared in Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. I can’t get a full read on the genre, but it follows Detective Lois Tryon “who works with Sister Megan, a local nun, to figure out the source of a series of heinous crimes that is affecting both their community and their personal lives.” And Nicholas Alexander Chavez plays a sexy naughty priest. Episode three introduced… wait for it… Travis Kelce to the acting scene. What more could you want, it’s been fun babe.
FROM (Season Three) - MGM+ | Horror/Drama
FROM on MGM+ is a mind-bending horror series that kicks off in a small, eerie town where every attempt to escape leads you right back where you started. It follows a group of people trapped in this strange town, all grappling with bizarre phenomena and nightmarish creatures who come out tonight. They band together to uncover the town's dark secrets and find a way out, which is easier said than done.
Okay onto movies…
SPOTLIGHT: It’s What’s Inside - Netflix (Released 10/4)
Okay, so my favorite movie of the week: “A pre-wedding reunion descends into a psychological trippy nightmare for a group of college friends when a surprise guest arrives with a mysterious suitcase that starts to tear the group apart.”
Genre: Thriller/Campy Dark Comedy
Rating: 4.5 Stars (very close to 5 Stars)
Letterboxd Review: “this isn't going to get nearly the hype it deserves... but i loved almost every minute of it (ending could've been wrapped up a little tighter). the suspense, the lighting/color, the editing. more plz <3”
Think Bodies Bodies Bodies. It’s very that. It’s like thrilling… but very funny and kind of satyrical social commentary on top? I honestly want to give nothing away, go in blind — but if you must… here’s the trailer:
Letterboxd Log:
Oct 4th: Swallowed (2022)
Logline: “Benjamin and Dom have been best friends since they were kids. On their last night together, Dom plans to send Benjamin off with a pocketful of cash. All he has to do is deliver a package over the border for a friend…”
Letterboxd ‘Review’: i thought this was going to be like a body horror vibe... but instead this left me absolutely DEVASTATED. not very good overall though.
Genre: Thriller (claims to be Horror)
Rating: 3 Stars
Note: Stars Cooper Koch, also from Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and I’m just obsessed with him.
Trailer: See here
Oct 5th: Tongues Untied (1989)
Logline: “Marlon Riggs, with assistance from other gay Black men, especially poet Essex Hemphill, celebrates Black men loving Black men as a revolutionary act. The film intercuts footage of Hemphill reciting his poetry, Riggs telling the story of his growing up, scenes of men in social intercourse and dance, and various comic riffs, including a visit to the “Institute of Snap!thology,” where men take lessons in how to snap their fingers: the sling snap, the point snap, the diva snap.”
Letterboxd ‘Review’: “anger unvented becomes pain unspoken, becomes rage released, becomes violence”
Genre: Documentary/Visual Poetry
Rating: 5 Stars
Trailer: See here
Oct 6th: It’s What’s Inside (2024)
Covered above
Oct 6th: The Witch (2015)
Logline: “In 1630, a farmer relocates his family to a remote plot of land on the edge of a forest where strange, unsettling things happen. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, each family member’s faith, loyalty and love are tested in shocking ways.”
Letterboxd ‘Review’: something fun, something for the summertime. something for the girls to get ready and party to.
Genre: Horror
Rating: 4 Stars
Trailer: See here
Oct 6th: MEN (2022)
Logline: “In the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Harper retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside, hoping to find a place to heal. But someone — or something — from the surrounding woods appears to be stalking her, and what begins as simmering dread becomes a fully-formed nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears.”
Letterboxd ‘Review’: i fear we've lost the fucking plot. i thought this had such a low rating because all the film bros on here didn't like the criticism of men... but then i watched it and turns out it just wasn't very good. another example of such great potential, poor execution.
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Rating: 2 Stars
Trailer: See here
Oct 7th: The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Logline: “In October of 1994 three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland, while shooting a documentary. A year later their footage was found.”
Letterboxd ‘Review’: finally watched this so my horror fanatic card isn’t revoked (i hate found footage films) but genuinely that bitch was ass at making documentaries. shakey asf. she deserved to get got for that shitty footage alone. probably would’ve scared me if i was like ten tho.
Genre: “Horror”
Rating: 2 Stars (for the sole fact it popularized a genre, even if i don’t like that genre)
Trailer: See here
Okay slay, go watch the good ones!
And that is that on that…
Kisses smooches,
JEM
I knew you’d love It’s What’s Inside, I was immediately obsessed, loved the twist
